Keeping Kids with Mom

The ex-husband of an employed single mother and domestic abuse survivor sought to terminate her parental rights because she was living at a Colorado Coalition for the Homeless facility. Her living situation was caused in part by his failure to pay child support. After the woman attended a CPLP monthly clinic for assistance, her volunteer attorney secured a court order allowing her to retain joint parental rights. The order also stipulated that her ex-husband make increased child support and alimony payments.
