A hearing imparied single mother in recovery from stomach cancer tried unsuccessfully to obtain her security deposit upon moving to a new home. The owners of her former residence had divorced, and quarrelled over which party was responsible for repayment of the deposit. Unable to recover the money she was owed, the tenant sought legal assistance from CPLP. Following an eventful trial, the tenant obtained triple her security deposit, which allowed her to continue to care for her daughter while recovering.
